Happy Easter!
To Everyone
As a liberal who believes in people instead of profits and power, I subscribe to Republicans for the Rule of Law because they are against the Trumpster. They, obviously, sold or gave my name to the other Republicans. There is no other way that they would have it. Everyday, there are three or four Republican emails in my inbox.
Today, I received an email from the Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel. It was a wonderful Christian Easter email wishing myself and my family a Happy Easter then saying “Today, as we celebrate and rejoice in the knowledge that He is Risen; we pause and give thanks for the many blessings promised by the Lord.”
Then, of course, it went on to add “I wanted to reach out to share my appreciation for your continued support and dedication in pursuit of preserving some of the greatest of all His blessings: life, liberty, and the privilege of living in the greatest country in the world.” I’m guessing that she wanted to preserve those rights for entitled rich, white Republicans and not so much for everyone else. Naturally, Christianity and donations go hand in hand. This isn’t to feed the poor. No, this is to elect Republicans so that they can make more rules against people who don’t fit their criteria of worthiness. Just like Jesus said to do — not.
After reading her message, I felt inspired to write back to her to tell her Happy Easter as well. This is what I wrote.
“Thank you so much. I have my transgender daughter here with me. I let her know how wonderful and Christian you all are in wishing everyone a Happy Easter. I will be speaking at my grandson’s (my trans daughter and her wife’s child) school in Orlando about LGTBQ+ rights next week. I will also let them all know about your peaceful and loving Easter thoughts. It’s good to know that there are people who actually believe in the love of God that Jesus taught after seeing all of the hateful unloving people who pretend to be Christians today.
Happy Easter to you as well,
Diana”
Unfortunately, I didn’t think to tell her that I was also entertaining asylum seekers from Central and South America or other people who these Christians should be loving and helping but aren’t.
If I sound a little angry, it is frustration. This is just another example of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I detest these people because they use the name of the Lord in vain. This is evil.
So, to everyone who is not an entitled Republican, Happy Easter! May God’s love bless you all.
