I agree that God is love completely. I do have a problem with what you are considering the correct translation though.

I took the verse Exodus 15:6 and first looked it up in my preferred version, the NIV. Then, I compared it to other versions.

Exodus 15:6

New International Version

6 Your right hand, Lord,

was majestic in power.

Your right hand, Lord,

shattered the enemy.

Exodus 15:6

Young's Literal Translation

6 Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Is become honourable in power; Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Doth crush an enemy.

Exodus 15:6

1599 Geneva Bible

6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath bruised the enemy.

Exodus 15:6

Complete Jewish Bible

6 Your right hand, Adonai, is sublimely powerful;

your right hand, Adonai, shatters the foe.

Shemot 15:6

Orthodox Jewish Bible

6 Thy right hand, Hashem, is become glorious in ko’ach; Thy right hand, Hashem, hath dashed into pieces the oyev.

The Tanakh (Complete Jewish Bible) in Hebrew and in English at Chabad.org (my favorite Jewish website)

Shemot - Exodus - Chapter 15

6 Your right hand, O Lord, is most powerful; Your right hand, O Lord, crushes the foe.

I do believe that God is all powerful but that man believed that God had helped him to defeat enemies or had caused devastations because of his sins when that was not actually the case. I do not believe that the Bible is perfect because there are contradictions and Jesus even said that some things in the Hebrew scriptures were incorrect. Man wrote the Bible and got some things wrong. The Bible is not the perfect word of God. You have to use discernment in reading the Bible. You have to compare everything else in the Bible to what Jesus taught and commanded. That is the only way to know the truth of God.

Jesus taught that the spiritual, not the physical, was what was important. Circumcision of the heart was what was important instead of physical circumcision.

Jesus said this.

John 7:22 Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.

This passage and others tell me that rituals are not a part of Christianity. Spiritual love is the only thing that matters.

Matthew 15:17-19

17 "Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander."

Even some of the Hebrew scriptures speak of this.

Deuteronomy 10:16-19

16 Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. 18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. 19 And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.

Isaiah 1:11

11 "The multitude of your sacrifices—

what are they to me?” says the Lord."

"I have more than enough of burnt offerings,

of rams and the fat of fattened animals;

I have no pleasure

in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats."

Jesus taught love for our fellow man. God is love. Anything that goes against this does not come from God even if it is written in the Bible. That is what is actually important.

1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.

God bless you, Eric
