I have the opposite viewpoint. I was an atheist for my first forty years until God came very powerfully into my life. I went through a spiritual crisis because I had no idea what was happening to me. Then, I had a spiritual awakening as I came to terms with it. After that, I began to search for the religion that really understood God. I found that the teachings of Jesus actually did. Not the rest of the Bible. Just His words. He taught what was from God and what was not from God but from men in the Hebrew scriptures, the OT. His words are perfect. So, I know that He really is God.

Looking back, I now realize that God was always acting in my life but only with signs, not miracles. I had ignored the signs. I have even realized that God had ensured that I was educated in physics so that I could prove the existence of God to atheists using science and that God let me be an atheist for many years so that I would know how they think. God lined it all up perfectly but I didn't notice until later.

We are each in our walk. If you choose to not believe, that is up to you. I don't judge you for this because, as I said, I was too.
