I'm giving you the same reply that I gave someone else.
The truth is the words that Jesus spoke. He laid it all out so that anyone could follow it. It is really quite simple.
Matthew 22:34-40
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Everyone is your neighbor. The Parable of the Good Samaritan Luke 10:25-37.
Luke 10:36-37
36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.
So, anyone who is loving and kind toward others is a true Christian. Anyone is selfish, greedy, controlling, cruel, uncaring, unkind or hateful isn't a follower of Jesus. So, he or she isn't a Christian.
Even psychology agrees with this. People who are cruel, selfish, controlling and unkind are at least sociopaths. The worst ones are psychopaths.
It really isn't a big mystery. It is all about having a loving heart. People who don't have loving hearts aren't Christians. As Jesus said, we will know them by their fruits. The wolves are deceiving many and the love of most has grown cold, Matthew 24:3-14. That is what the problem is and Jesus said that this would happen in the last days.
