Many claps and I'm following you. I have had the talk. It was the one where I told Christians that faith without works is dead. I have seen many who say "As long as I believe in Jesus, I'm saved." Then, I inform them that Jesus said to do works like love your neighbor by helping him, help the poor, the widows, the orphans, the prisoners and the infirm.
I have tried to decide what to believe about gun control. I come from a hunting family. So, I know that guns don't kill people. People kill people. On the other hand, a lot of people are killing a lot of people including little kids. That needs to change.
Today, I watched a video of the Sheriff of Polk County, Florida, Grady Judd, speak about his views on guns. He spoke of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He explained that the criminals will always have illegal guns whether they are stolen or bought illegally. So, legal gun owners need to be able to step up against them. I agree.
Unfortunately, our fallen world is getting much worse. I would like to believe that people would all love their neighbors but satan (lower case to disrespect) is filled with fury because he knows his time is short. People are being very influenced by this evil. This is why our world is as it is now. We are in the last days. This will only get worse. We need to love our children and family members along with the children and family members of all of our neighbors by protecting them from evil as best we can. If that means defending them with guns, then that is what we need to do. I own a shotgun and it's loaded just in case
I don't believe in defunding the police. Who will you call when the bad guy comes to your door? I'm a Christian and a liberal Democrat but I do believe that there are times when we need to take our whip into the temple courtyard and turn over the tables of the money changers no matter which type they are. God would not have led me in all of the directions that I have been led if this were not true.
Our police do need to be retrained and some need to be fired though. When they commit first degree murder, they need to be charged with first degree murder. This is a prayer of mine that God is finally answering. God does answer prayers but we all need to do our part too. If this were not true, God would not have ensured that I was a teenager during a time of great protests. Our voices need to be loud to be heard and we need to act in the best interests of the people of our country. I'm a veteran. So, I believe that we do need to defend by force if necessary.
Good for the young powerful voices of the Representatives Justin Pearson and Justin Jones in Tennessee. When Justin Pearson spoke, I could hear the voice of Dr. King all over again. I felt goosebumps. This has been another prayer of mine. I have asked God to raise up a new MLK to continue with the struggle until the struggle ends.
In reality, we need to do both--pray and take action. When God sees that we earnestly seek change, God will help to bring about that change. When we don't try to make a change for the better, nothing happens or things get worse.
God bless you.
