My Country Tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty?
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
As I sat watching “Secret Files of the Inquisition” on Tubi and realizing the correlations with some of today’s inquisitors, I received an email from Hillsdale College that asked “I hope you will give us your thoughts about the teaching of American history, including the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence, by taking a short survey.”
I knew that this would be trouble because the first sentence of the email read “Dear Fellow American, You’ve probably noticed the spread of anti-American ideology into every area of American life.” And to think that I was hoping that my land of liberty might actually have liberty for all people in the United States and even elsewhere.
A little further down, it said “Shortly before Independence Day, Nike announced its plans to release an athletic shoe featuring the Betsy Ross flag. Then Nike spokesman Colin Kaepernick objected, condemning the flag as a symbol of racism and slavery.”
Since Colin Kaepernick is one of my heroes, I knew that this email could only mean one thing. It was the white Conservatives trying to maintain their stranglehold on America.
