Years ago, there was a church in my area that believed that if you used the name Yahweh, God was most powerful. To me, there was problem with this. God has several names even to Christians and Jews. Yahweh is one but there are also the names Adonai, Elohim, El-Elyon, El-Gibhor, El-Olam, El-Roi and several more. So, if you don’t use the name Yahweh, God doesn’t listen? At the point I heard of this, I had been dealing with God for several years and had not heard of Yahweh as God’s name. No, God didn’t need me to call Him Yahweh.

God doesn’t really have a name because God is known by many people in many lands and given different names by different people. God is Jehovah or Allah, Brahma or Goddess, the Universe or the Supreme. My personal perspective includes knowing that God is for all people. God created all mankind.

There is a Hindu parable for religion. The blind men and the elephant is a story of several blind men who are taken to an elephant. Each is placed at a different part of the elephant. Each perceives the elephant in a different way. One believes that the elephant is a thick snake. Another one believes it is like a kind of fan. Another believes it is a pillar like a tree-trunk. Yet, another believes that it is a wall and for another it as a rope and one believes that the elephant is a spear. Each person is at…
