The New Covenant is Jesus. Jesus said to obey Him and that anyone who did not obey Him did not love Him.
John 14:23-24
23 Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."
Jesus gave two Great Commands to obey on which He said all the Law and Prophets hang.
Matthew 22:34-40
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
How do you love the Lord?
John 14:15 "If you love me, keep my commands."
Who is your neighbor? Everyone. The Parable of the Good Samaritan. Luke 10:25-37.
The wheat that He will be separating from the chaff will be those who love and obey Him being separated from those who don't. The sheep means the same thing.
John 10:14 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me"
He even explained what will happen to those who have not obeyed Him when He returns.
Matthew 7:22-23
22 "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"
It's all about having a loving heart and nothing else. That is what being a Christian is. Anyone who does not have a loving heart is not a Christian even if they say that they are. That is the true sin.
All of those hateful, judgmental, selfish, greedy people who you see are not loving or obeying Jesus. They are not Christians no matter what they say. God knows their hearts.
Luke 16:15 He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight."
Do you love Jesus and obey His commands? That is the only way to be one of His sheep.
