This will be my usual repeat of the truth of Jesus and the falsehoods of people like Driscoll.
John 14:23-24
23 Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."
Is he following Jesus? No!
Does he care about the actual commandments? Why isn't he speaking loudly and frequently about them?
Exodus 20:14 "You shall not commit adultery."
Matthew 22:34-40
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
37 Jesus replied: ""Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS HANG ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS.
Jesus said that not all of the Hebrew scriptures were from God. No, the Bible isn't perfect. Man had his hand in it.
John 7:22 "Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath."
Leviticus says that it was given to Moses by God but Leviticus 11 is all food prohibitions. It is from man, not God.
Matthew 15:10-11
10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them."
Leviticus 11 even goes against the covenant that God made with Noah after the Great Flood.
Genesis 9:3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
Leviticus should not be in the Bible. Man decided which books would be in the Bible. God did not do that.
If supposed Christians would be honest, they would explain things like this.
Isaiah 1:11
11 "The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?” says the Lord.
“I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;
I have no pleasure
in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats."
Why don't people like Driscoll explain this?
Romans 16:18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
This is what Conservative "Christianity" is. It is against every teaching of Jesus. There is no such thing as Conservative and Christian. They are opposites.
