Yes, this is so wrong. Why does it matter what "race" a person is to send an ambulance? Will the ambulance be slower if the person is black, hispanic, or any non-white?
Years ago, I lived underneath a young man who was selling lots of drugs. I called the police because the constant racket on the stairs was keeping me awake when I had to sleep. I worked nights. The first question the cops asked me was what color he was. What does it matter what color he was? When I said that he was white, the cops didn't show up.
A few months later, I came home from work to find a multitude of cop cars on my street in front of my house. I asked what had happened and the cops told me that the guy had been tied up and robbed at gunpoint. I told the cops that I had reported him. They looked at their tablet and said "Yes, you called on (whatever date)" months earlier. Gee, you mean to tell me that a white guy could be a drugdealer?
I have never forgotten this. It was so disturbing that the police where basing their decisions about criminal activity on the arbitrary construct of race. For this and other reason, I have always disliked the police. Now, it looks like the ambulance companies are also people who I should be wary of. I just can't believe that this stuff could even happen. What type of a country are we living in?
