Yes, we are all mere mortals prone to sin. I confess my sins to God daily but the Bible states various things about what do when someone has sinned. It ranges from gently helping them to overcome their sin to rebuking them in the presence of all.
Galatians 6:1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
1 Timothy 5:20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning.
One could say that the elders should be dealt with more harshly but Jesus said that there is only one teacher, Him. There are not supposed to be elders in the church.
Matthew 23:8 "But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers."
But this goes back into the history of the church starting with the Roman Church.
And we wonder why there are so many denominations teaching in so many different ways.
